Major Moscow's Strikes Disrupt Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to water systems, according to city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city came under heavy assaults overnight. A minor died and several individuals were hurt.

The assaults succeed nights of air raids in the area, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

National leaders told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
