Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
